I have Hypnos it's fab but I like a more firm mattress so have a 5 level firmness and it's great.
It's worth pointing out that you do have to turn the mattress weekly when you first get it. It's annoying as ours is a super king size so I need help turning it each time. However I wouldn't change it.

Hi. We have an Emma mattress. It’s medium firm but I found it a bit too firm (was pregnant) so they sent us a free memory foam topper which helped and now it’s perfect! Added bonus is that there was a 200 day guarantee when purchased it and during that period we could have returned it for any reason whatsoever and they would have come and collected it for free! Oh and also we got it when on sale, they have sales fairly frequently so that was good also. Definitely very comfortable and also supportive though, would certainly recommend Smile

MatildaonaWaltzer · 17/11/2020 20:07

Hypnos hands down. Emma is 100% artificial and gives off fumes which are potentially toxic (as does any memory foam mattress). Hypnos with natural latex, wool and cotton any day.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 17/11/2020 20:08

Hypnose!

Those fashionable foam mattresses (Emma, Simba et al) are all overpriced shite.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 17/11/2020 20:08

Hypnos Blush

MatildaonaWaltzer · 17/11/2020 20:35

(Is also add that my new Hypnos hybrid is the most magnificently comfortable thing in the world. It is a phenomenal pleasure)

Shmithecat2 · 17/11/2020 20:41

I've got Emma's. I love mine (and got 40% off). I do like the softer feel of the PI Hypnos, but my back/shoulders don't in the morning. Since sleeping on an Emma mattress, I no longer ache. Which is such a relief. They can smell though. I have 3 altogether, the two doubles are fine, but my superking still has a faint odour about it after nearly 6 months 🤨.

gottakeeponmovin · 17/11/2020 20:52

I buy mattresses for a living. There is no comparison. A Hypnos mattress is far and away better than those mattresses in a box. You get what you pay for

DisappearingGirl · 17/11/2020 20:53

We have an Emma mattress and absolutely love it. I haven't found that it smells chemically!

Artyfarty555 · 17/11/2020 23:27

Opps, forgot to check for replies... oH ordered an Emma which is being delivered on Thursday!!! Oh,well... if it smells and is rubbish we can return!!! I should have looked... my choice would have been the hypnose one!! lol lol 😂

We’re six years into sleeping on a Hypnos mattress. It’s so comfortable we miss it when we’re away.

Artyfarty555 · 23/11/2020 09:51

Emma has arrived... not blown away tbh... hubby thinks it's great...probably because it was his choice!
Has anyone returned one!? Seems to be easy ...but nothing in my opinion is that easy! Lol

Shmithecat2 · 23/11/2020 14:35

OP, I wasn't blown away by the Emma - its not luxurious, or particularly inviting. But I do feel physically much better for sleeping on mine.

ManCubsMama · 23/11/2020 16:47

We recently got a Simba and I have been really impressed by them. The mattress is super comfortable and doesn't make either of us hot in the night, like we heard was common with the Tempur. The mattress we purchased is now reduced in their Black Friday offer (hate it when that happens!) so I contacted them and they kindly price matched it for me so I got a refund of £125! As well as the discount they're doing a deal at the min where you even get 2 free Memory Foam pillows worth £120 when you buy a mattress - bit.ly/2J2guIv I know Simba wasn't one you mentioned but just sharing as I've been super impressed with the mattress and the great customer service

Artyfarty555 · 23/11/2020 21:13

Thanks for that update.... I'll take a look. In fact my friend recommended the simba yesterday..thanks

MissyBB · 23/11/2020 21:33

Simba are fine for the first year then sink either side with a large ridge in the middle. We've had our superking replaced foc and yet again, 1 yr down the line its far too soft with the high ridge down the centre.
The foc pillows don't last either and are full of cheap foam shapes.
I'd be interested to see if the Emma mattresses in superking last longer if anyone would like to comment?

Artyfarty555 · 07/01/2021 20:39

Back again..update!
Well, "Emma" arrived in November and we've not been getting on! Hubby likes her but I'm really not impressed and told him today...Emma has to go back! I miss the bouncy, springy type of mattress feel. I'm not particularly heavy 9 stone but feel like l can't turn over...the bed seems to suck you in....I find it so uncomfortable.

So, kind MUmsnetters...and mattress advice?

Think we will return and get a hypnose one... which people had recommended but my o/h ordered it so quickly!
A friend said symba but they are too expensive.
Also...which is the premier inn Hypnose one...or is there just one type?
Thanks

Thanks hardasnails... since looking at that, I've read a review that gives a really damaging response to the top extra ' topping' of the mattress.. so not sure. Been looking at IKEA ones too...and they have decent reviews... such a shame we can't go and try some out in real life!! Think lockdown will put a stop to that for weeks.
But to qualify for returning Emma ...we need to act pretty quickly...or we'll end up on the floor!!

I’ve got an Emma. Hands down the worst thing I’ve ever bought. So uncomfortable.
We missed the deadline for sending it back, so it’s now topped with 2 mattress toppers and another mattress!

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 07/01/2021 22:42

We have an Emma .. bloody expensive.. not worth the money
Of course DH thinks it’s the best invention since the wheel , of course he does he chose it 🤨
Much like that fucking Shark Vacuum cleaner .. hate that too but again DH thinks it’s fucking brilliantly insane
I need to put a stop to these stupid fads
Of course when I want to spend money it’s wasteful
FYI it does stink for the first week or so , the smell goes
There was nothing wrong with our other memory foam , I’m sunk and his side is higher 🤷🏼‍♀️

MrsPatrickDempsey · 07/01/2021 22:53

We ordered an Emma before Christmas. Arrived promptly. Never really inflated properly. It is completely uneven and slopes at the edges. It's going back next Tuesday. I found it firm.
We have replaced it with a tempur. Ok

  • it cost the earth but there is no comparison.

I wouldn’t get a pillow top mattress again. We have a John Ryan one. Quite a firm mattress which I wanted but the pillow, top bit made it too soft. I sank in so much my lower back felt unsupported.

We’ve ended up,turning the mattress over which I don’t think is at all recommended. There are funny knobbly bits on the underneath of the mattress which I’m now sleeping on which dig in.

I’m thinking of a Hypnos mattress now.

I've spent many nights in Premier Inns so had well tested the mattress before buying and for me it's the most comfy mattress ever (and a very good price for a Hypnos).

Hypnos!

British made and brilliant quality.
