Gungy soap tray in washing machine ...

UGH . I do clean it every couple of months but can never get all the gunge out of the top of the soap drawer cavity. Recall reading somewhere that you should periodically run your machine on its hottest cycle with bleach. Is this so???? If so, does the bleach go in the soap drawer and does it work?

TIA

white vinegar? disolves any gunge and adds a lovely chip shop aroma to the house. (which won't transfer to the washing)

Mine comes right out ... there's a little lever-y thing at the back

Thanks all ... white vinegar it is then, and maybe dishwasher although the drawer's pretty clean now, it's just inside of the machine where it sits. Am off to try the vinegar!
