Feels like sandpaper on the wall. Want to redecorate. Any tips on how to approach getting the stuff off?

You can't. You have to skim plaster over it. But it gives a lovely finish when you do. You can buy tubs of instant skim plaster.

Don't go down the nitromoss chemical removal root. Not only does it not work, you burn all the skin from your hands, and lungs.

I have it - never actually thought about getting it off - my brother is a painter and decorator = I will text him and ask but he will prob be in bed by now.

#according to my brother if you just rub it down first it should be fine - assume he means with sand paper.

is it the crown suede effect stuff? i had it in my last house - felt like sandpaper unfortuanately but nice effect!! anyway 2 coats of dulux covered it no problem - had a guy in to do it and asked his opinion - I was very sceptical but it worked fine - you do need a decent quality paint though - good luck !

"You can buy tubs of instant skim plaster" Yes, but unless you're a plasterer you will end up with something worse than the suede paint effect!!

why is suede effect paint something you'd put on your walls in the first place???!

ja9 · 17/10/2007 20:20

hoxtonchick - i didn't. it was here when we moved in.

Because its really nice looks a bit different from plain old emulsion. Also looks a bit like wallpaper.
