I want to have that kind of bedding that feels like you're lying on a cloud, luxurious and soft.

What kind of duvet do I need?
Where is best for bedding? What do I look for?

Please advise me, wise women!

starsinyourpies · 07/11/2020 18:14

@Mojitomogul I'm glad to hear this I've just ordered from them!

doadeer · 07/11/2020 18:32

I splurge on a new mattress topper, goose down duvet and pillows, and beautiful sheets from John Lewis. Eeek it cost a lot but worth it I'm sure!

John Lewis but DS1 is a La Redoute and Ikea fan.

Got some fantastic quality linen from Bedeck at House of Fraser in the sale. The fabric is very soft and feels great. We have a wool duvet and wool pillows from Devon Duvets. Find the pillows keep their shape longer than down ones.

Madbengalmum · 07/11/2020 18:55

Ah well if money is no object then the best quality duvets/pillows/toppers to be had are Brinkhaus and the finest linens are Yves Delorme / frette or Pratesi.

Nothing in the high st will match these and they are simply the finest and will go on for years and years. One of the most poplar items on desert islands discs for famous people to take with them is a Brinkhaus duvet. You will not go wrong with this investment.

I have a wool filled duvet and linen duvet covers. Little bit of heaven Smile

Madbengalmum · 07/11/2020 19:00

If you are looking for a bed/mattress. Then look toward vi spring, but not john lewis vi spring, Hastens or Savoir.

Nsky · 07/11/2020 19:05

Have a two part wool duvet ( all seasons, wool room, wool pillows and mattress topper).
Find secret linen great, always cotton, reasonably priced too

GeidiPrimes · 07/11/2020 19:09

For me, a goosedown cotton duvet and overstuffed down pillows (surprisingly good from M&S, they're the fattest pillows I've ever seen).

500+ thread-count cotton sheets, I'm horrified by the bobbly polyester £12.99 Argos horrors I used to sleep in. As I've got older, comfort has become much more important. If you're feeling fancy one day and have nothing else to do, iron your bedsheets and shave your legs before getting in. It feels amazing! Grin

MrDarcysMa · 07/11/2020 19:36

I've finally got my dream combo:
-Caspar hybrid matress

-Caspar pillow
-Duck down duvet
-Pure linen bedding (H&M have some sets that wash well for under £100)

MrDarcysMa · 07/11/2020 19:44

Can anyone post a link to some mid priced Portuguese brushed cotton? Sounds interesting.

Do you have a link to it please? I’ve looked on their website but can’t find anything much.

If you're going to buy anything that involves goose down/feathers, I suggest some research. I would have bought without knowing about the cruelty involved. I naively thought the feathers were shed naturally. Apparently, even the ethically sourced, cruelty free ones are probably nothing of the sort.

bebarkered · 05/12/2020 10:30

Jysk sateen duvet covers are lovely and soft OP. As are Ikea sateen and their high thread count. Sheridan are very nice, but, a bit pricey

esster · 11/08/2021 10:05

I suggest you try www.fleurdelinstore.com/collections/linen-sheets sheets. It's really great!
