Ok, we moved into a new hosue around two months ago, for the first month or so no problems.

But over the last few weeks DD(6)'s bedroom has stunk!!! It smells like milk gone bad.

I pulled out EVERYTHING, changed her matress and quilt with her brothers to see if the smell was either of them.

Febreezed EVERYTHING.

washed anything fabirc that could possibly have held a smell.

I cannot see where it was coming from. Anyway, After this mega clean a week ago, two days later it smells the same

I have no idea what it could be but it is driving me mad, any ideas????

Oh dear, this doesn't sound good... Have you thought about taking up the carpet and having a sniff under the boards? Could be a (sorry to scare you) animal carcass...?

dinny · 14/10/2007 14:55

sadly, agree - dead mouse or rat?

sounds like a dead mouse to me. We had one behind a wardrobe once and it was rank.

Dare I ask....did you find anything LRNAF??

Get an electrician to check plugs, sockets switches etc. This happened to me and the man who was fixing the boiler recognised the smell - the socket for the immersion heater had burnt out.Very dangerous.

Does it smell slightly fishy?
If so, we had this for ages and it drove me made. Then I read a similar problem in an interiors magazine and it turned out to be the light fitting. DP replaced it and the smell disappeared.

We had the same thing in our bedroom, Katierocket. It turned out tobe a very old Bakelite light fitting overheating.
