Kitchenaid alternatives??

I would like to buy a mixer and haven't a clue where to start. Kitchenaid looks great, but I can't justify the cost. I'm looking for something cheap and basic, but want it to have a hook for breadmaking. I would also like it to be small - small kitchen and just me to feed.
Has anyone got any suggestions please?

Kenwood Chef every time. Mine is 25 years old and is used most days. My mum's dates from the 1970's and is still going strong.

I have a KitchenAid and I love it.

But I also have my mum's Kenwood Mini which is from the 70s and the motor still works perfectly. I use it regularly as a hand held mixer because the plastic bowl broke years ago. So I'd recommend a Kenwood too.
