Discoloured patches on denim shirt - what to do?

Just that really. Have a couple of discoloured pale spots on denim shirt that I really love to wear. Would dyeing it help, perhaps? Thank you!

I am not sure about dyeing denim. What about putting appliques / patches on. There are some really cool ones. I did so with a denim jacket I ripped when it got caught in a fence.
