How best to clean a wool rug?

Hello, we have a lovely wool rug that we bought years ago from Habitat, and it needs a clean. How do we go about it? We don’t really want to pay for a professional to do it as it’s old and we’re only using it temporarily until we redecorate, but it definitely needs a deep clean!

I do mine in the bath every year with a wool wash mix. Soak, agitate a few times, pull the plug and allow to drain for a bit before filling the bath again for a rinse.

I choose a warmish, breezy day and hang to dry. To get it outside, I line my washing basket with an old shower curtain. The rug is about 4’ x 6’.
