Help! carpet stain of coca cola

I'm housesitting for my mum (looking after her cat while she's on holiday) and she bought some new pale deep pile rugs shortly before she left.

Pretty much as soon as she left the glass I was drinking from broke and there's a black sugary mess on the new rug about a foot long and two-three inches wide.

I want to get rid of it. What should I use? Google is so confusing. It's a syrupy, sugary stain. She's not back for over a week so have time to sort it.

Please help

NB: she's gone to an exempt holiday destination pre booked mid last year.

No idea if the rugs are wool or part wool but they were about £100 to cover about half of a 12x12 room. I'm so scared of making it worse.

I use dr beckman carpet cleaner for everything on the carpet. Magic stuff! Try that? Did you manage to soak up most of it?

Yes soaked it all up, but brown stain still there. I'll try and get some Dr Beckmann. Thanks

Was going to recommend Dr Beckman but I've been beaten to it. It's fab!
