Anyone got any recommendation for cleaning showers. We are in a hard water area and I can never manage to get the glass clean. I have tried cillit bang, HG scale away, bathroom mousse, crib daddy scourers and lots of others over the years.

Good old fashioned CIF scouring cream on a scouring sponge works well for me. Once rinsed off it leaves the glass gleaming Smile

I like viakal to eliminate build up of limescale. I then use deionised water over the shower doors, use a squidgee and buff with a cloth.

OK I'll give them a try, the only problem is I have a fixed shower head so have to use a jug to rinse off any product and the last time I used cif it took a lot of rinsing. But will certainly give it a go and deionised water, any advice for the bottoms of the door and around the sliding mechanisms and seals?

Also it needs cleaning a very day, although I don't do it everyday if I buffed it with a cloth I think I would loose the will to live as as soon as teenage daughter goes in it would be nearly as bad.

We have water softener that screws onto the shower inlet, dramatically reduces the amount of limescale. Cost about £25 and then refills every 6 months.

Imtoooldforallthis · 05/10/2020 13:02

Oh do you have a link to some think similar to that shower softener?

I don't know if it works in a hard water area but shampoo leaves my glass doors gleaming.

I had bought shampoo which didn't suit my hair at all, and didn't want to just throw it out.

Might be worth a try. Don't use one with a conditioner in it though.

This is brilliant on limescale, they also do a gel version which works brilliantly on lumps of limescale (like you get around taps or shower heads)

You might already do this but once you have deep cleaned it, get last person to use shower each day to spray a daily shower spray on glass screen especially(Mr Muscle do one, so does Method) and squeegee the screen/tiles. Takes two mins but makes a huge difference. Have to say it is usually me who does it even if I am not last person.

Ecover limes scale remover. Rinse off and then polish with glass cleaner.

Justmuddlingalong · 05/10/2020 23:48

I use a squeegee to clean off the water droplets after every shower. Takes about 15 seconds.

janetmendoza · 06/10/2020 00:06

yup same as Justmuddling, there is still build up around the shower head, but the screen is perfect.

Another one using a squeegee after each shower. Really does reduce the timescale build up and keep the shower glass clear. Every month or so clean with white vinegar. I do use vikal on the shower head. Also try using toilet paper to buff up any stainless steel controls or shower rods it gets rid of water spots etc for me with no additional chemicals.
