Please recommend a dish drainer

I'm having a kitchen upgrade. I hate to see drainers out on the counter. Wood ones go black and mouldy, metal ones rust, plastic is unsightly, those with a tray underneath just create another annoying small job to empty the tray. Nevertheless, DH will insist, and we shall need somewhere to air-dry the items that come from the dishwasher still wet.

Is there any help available please?

I have a roll up drainer. Can also be used as a trivet. One thing though, it isn't long enough to fit over my butler sink, which is why I bought it. However, it's perfectly fine on my worktop.

Ive got one of these, it goes under the sink when not in use

TenaciousP , and YorkshireParentalPerson , many thanks for the ideas.

I am tending towards a collapsible option that can be hidden away when empty. Grin

@Justmuddlingalong

This is the one I've got. It's the oxo good grips dish rack. The wee spikes are great for positioning things to let them drip dry. There's no spout so you just tip the water out. It's neat enough to store away and just gets bunged in the dishwasher to clean.
I had this one in our camper van - it worked really well. I got DH to drill a couple of holes one end of the tray to let the water out and then I just put it very slightly over the sink so any water could escape away. and yes it just gets bunged in the dishwasher to clean it.

We have this. Channels the water into the sink.

A stainless steel rack will not rust. Know someone who has a drying rack disguised as a cupboard above the draining board - water just drips down or evaporates. Again, 2 steel racks in the cupboard.

I have this one. Bought from amazon 10 years ago and no rust.

When I had my kitchen redone, I got rid of not only the dish drainer but also the draining board, and I don't miss either. The only things are handwash are chopping boards.
