They are probably nesting under the caravan.

RGPargy · 10/10/2007 12:13

Use earplugs?

micci25 · 10/10/2007 12:16

borrow some ones dog, cat or ferritt! lol they will chase all the rats away

terriers are particularly good its what they are bred for

claricebeansmum · 10/10/2007 12:18

"oooo what a feeling
When they're dancing on the ceiling"

Nbg · 10/10/2007 12:19

poison

zookeeper · 10/10/2007 12:20

contact the council - they send out pest control.

Could they be squirrels? I think I would try to pretendthey were squirrels until the pest control person arrives

EmsMum · 10/10/2007 12:23

Would it be possible to put something on the roof that they wouldn't like the feel of? Can't think what, offhand.

Otherwise... put something attractive to rats away from your home and put rat poison in it.

we had squirrels on the roof of chalet-type holiday place and its not funny. Hope you find a solution.

Pest control will deal with them. Call the council.

We once had rats in the attic of our new house. It was a chaotic time, DS2 had just been born and was in SCBU so DH and I were mainly at the hospital with him while my mum was caring for the other two at our house. So she let the rat man in when he came and told him where the problem was located.

At the same time, DS1, then 8, was having poo issues (too many!) and as he has CF we have to keep a v.close eye on these things. GP asked for a sample which my poor mother had the lovely job of collecting from him.

A couple of days later there was a call from the GP about DS's sample.. they were concerned that there appeared to be animal faecal matter among it! Turns out, mum, struggling to collect the sample, had scooped some out of the toilet bowl as DS did it.. saw "something else" in there..and thought she'd better include it as presumed he'd passed it (!)

I phoned the rat man. Turns out, when he'd opened loft hatch, several droppings had fallen out which he'd "disposed of" done out loo! The "something" was a rat dropping!!

I think that particular health centre thought we were mad for the rest of the time we lived in that area! And God knows what the lab thought..

Sorry. Not really a relevant story is it... [gets books and goes upstairs to revise]

lol at shiny's rat story.

We had a rat in the garden in the spring, my parents were visiting and Mum said, "oh, look a cat in the garden!" Dad: "That is not a cat"

We spoke to our landlord and he said that they tunnel under the garage and that we should put some rat poison out. He put poison out in his daughters garden but I was a bit wary in case one of the DCs got a hold of it.

It did the trick, 2 days later my friend came home to find huge rat on her doorstep. I do not know why it chose my friend's doorstep to die on, she was just lucky I guess.

We have now filled up the hollow bit under the garage and piled big rocks so that they cannot get under there.

Can you see where they are "living" and perhaps put some poison down there?

I recently saw a news item about a rat-ridden farm - they got in a man with two terriers and they literally killed twenty or so in minutes
