Emptying water reservoir on tumble dryer

Notfeelinggreattoday · 24/09/2020 15:40

I have a condenser dryer so it collects the water
Do you all empty after every load ?
If so how do you remember , I often forget for a few days and then empty or in occasion the water light has come on to remind me
Mine holds a lot and some loads produce barely any water
Can it damage the machine if you forget ?

Yes, I do the water drawer and the fluff filter every time, it’s just a habit.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 24/09/2020 18:43

Mine is a heat pump condenser.

The one I had before was a bog std condenser. If the water reservoir and fluff filter were full it would take AGES to dry. The machine is not only much safer if you keep on top of it, it’s much more efficient too.

AlwaysLatte · 24/09/2020 18:49

I used to empty it after about 2-3 loads, but my husband has plumbed it into the mains for me now.

SunshineCake · 24/09/2020 18:50

I used to empty mine after every use or every second and then dh plumbed it so it goes elsewhere.

BananaLlamaConCalma · 24/09/2020 18:53

What's this now? Where's the water reservoir? Wondering if this is why my washer dryer suddenly stopped drying???

JonHammIsMyJamm · 24/09/2020 19:06

@BananaLlamaConCalma, if you have a condenser dryer and not a vented dryer (with the pipe to outside), you will have a drawer where the condensed water collects. You need to empty it or your machine will cut out.

BananaLlamaConCalma · 24/09/2020 19:08

There isn't a pipe out of the window which I remember from childhood. I think it goes out of the water pipe like when it's washing... using a logical brain. I shall investigate.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 24/09/2020 19:42

I use the water from the condenser in my cars windscreen washer bottle, and I think it can be used in an iron too.

The fluff, well, I just stick that in my belly button to frighten the kids.

DilysPrice · 24/09/2020 20:18

If it’s a washer dryer then it must be plumbed in Banana so the water from the dryer will be going out the same way as the dirty water from the washer.

I only ever empty mine when the light comes on, it only comes on every couple of weeks/months. I feel like I've been naughty after reading this thread 😂

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/09/2020 20:10

I plumbed mine in but I do the fluff filter every cycle. I’d never hear the end of it if I set the house on fire.

It’s just the sort of thing he’d remind me of for years.

I empty mine into the powder tray of the washing machine every time i put the washing machine on - the condensed water from the dryer softens the water and makes the detergent much more effective - plus saves water!

I use it in the iron as well.

Annasgirl · 02/10/2020 12:33

Yes I empty after every load - and clean the main filter. I do the other filter once a month. I wish there was a better option, it is such a pain.

lockupthepig · 02/10/2020 14:13

I do it when ever it tells me to!
