How do you store bananas?

Most interesting title ever...
So I absolutely despise bananas and usually avoid them like the plague. Husband has just gone on a bit of a post lockdown health kick and bananas are one of the rare fruits he will eat so we've started buying them. I know you're not supposed to put them in the fridge so we've got them out in the fruit bowl, and all I can smell in the kitchen is the vile overpowering stench of bananas! Please tell me there is some clever hack to storing them?

We keep them in an open tub in a cupboard- there are apples in there too

I keep them in the fridge.

In a banana bag in the fridge. The skin goes dark but the inside is perfect

In the fridge - the skin will blacken but they'll still be perfect inside

Hanging on a banana tree. It looks like a monkey and the bananas hang on his tail.

I used to have them just in the fruit bowl but for some reason recently we’ve been getting so many fruit flies so I’ve started putting bananas in the fridge and not buying any other fruit

On a banana tree, in a shady part of the kitchen out of direct sunlight. We only buy a few at a time.

Don't keep them in the fruit bowl, they ripen much more quickly.

On a banana tree in the shade. I wrap the stem part that holds them in a bunch in cling film and they ripen more slowly.
