Laundry does anyone have one of these?

laundry ball. I got one as a free gift for placing a big order but haven't dared try it yet. How can you tell if everything is hygenically clean? I tried soap nuts a while ago but didn't have faith in them. TIA.

I have one of those... great on cloth nappies and coloured clothes. Not so convinced on whites, so having had Simply Sensitive recommended by a mumsnetter, now using that for white clothes washes.

I have got one but the problem is that because they are not recommended for use with fabric conditioner it means that the washing doesnt have that nice smell. I only use mine now for washing towels, together with a small amount of powder.

I never use fabric conditioner anyway so I shall give them a go. Thanks. Do you have to check all the clothes when they come out to make sure any marks have gone?

Basically they are a waste of space IMO.

Have read at this as to why

What a patronising piece.

I don't have those but do have eco-balls which work well

Twiglett · 07/10/2007 17:34

although will admit to interspersing with washing powder

I think basically a lot of washing is done at 40 and the pumelling from the spinning probably bashes the clothes around enough

but when really dirty I'll use powder .. and I like the smell from powders anyway (no smell from ecoballs

I agree - never felt that the washing was really clean. Thats why I add powder with the towels. When I got my laundry ball it came together with a matching stain remover stick. I just bought another ball recently for my dad who really wanted one but stain stick was not included.

I have been washing at 30 but the clothes don't always come out clean. Don't know if 30 too low, the detergent isn't great or my kids are too filthy!

Got the stain stick. Shall I give it a go?

Yes give it a try. It might work fine for you. I could be wrong but I think hard/soft water supply can affect their performance.

NAB3 · 07/10/2007 17:42

We have hard water....

Done loads of washing totday, at least 5 loads, and used the ball for 4 of them. Seems okay so far.

soapnuts don't work for me - felt like just washing clothes in hot water. That article rang a few bells for me. I have gone back to detergent.
