what oil should I use for a wooden bowl?

We have two lovely bowls that were bought in Africa but one has a litle crack in it now. Probaby as they are nearly 5 yrs old and have not been oiled much. Does anyone know what I can use with them.

linseed oil was recommended for our kitchen worktops which are solid wood. they need oiled over night once a year. can get it in b&Q
