Mrs Hinch hamper ideas please!

Hi. I'm thinking about putting together a Mrs Hinch inspired hamper for part of Mums Christmas. (yes I know, but it is something she would like!) The thing is, while my mum is a big fan of hers I barely know anything, having not read any of the books, not following her on SM and the fact that I'm a bit of a mucky old slattern Wink ! The apple did indeed fall far from that tidy tree.
SO, I'd really appreciate some help from those of you who are more in the know than I. What would you expect/like to see in such a hamper?? Ideas most welcome! Thanks.

Fabulosa disinfectant spray has recently appeared in our Aldi. The Rhubarb one, and Lemon Mint ones smell lovely.

Jouleigh · 06/09/2020 20:11

OP, I know nothing about Mrs Hinch at all apart from what I've just read.

Just wanted to say that I popped to Asda today and they have dusting gloves made from microfibre. Sounds hideous I know!

I got some though as even though I don't like cleaning I like the idea of literally dusting with my hands. Were £4 I think Grin

I really like useful Christmas presents so I think it’s a great idea. In fact I think might make some hampers up for my relatives.

BrandoraPaithwaite · 06/09/2020 20:32

Now I have a really false hope in mind someone will make me a personalised hamper for Christmas!
Mine would be gardening and houseplant care stuff, and nice loose leaf tea and some wine. In a really useful smart looking basket to store clutter in later.

wincarwoo · 06/09/2020 20:33

@Sennetti it's a Scottish expression I believe

Flamingnorahs · 06/09/2020 20:41

@brandorapaithwaite yes, I always use containers for my hampers that can be reused, made from tin, cloth, wood etc. I did a gardening one before and put all the items in big watering can. I'm going to look at getting a personalised caddy as suggested above.

I would love that watering can hamper OP!

What other ones have you done? I am now looking to steal inspiration from you...

JadesRollerDisco · 06/09/2020 20:56

If you have Instagram it might be worth searching hashtags such as hinchhampers hinchhaul and cleaninghampers. There will be lots of ideas on there as a lot of people do like these hampers. There are some of people doing them for others and other ones where they have received them and are happy.

tinkywinkyshandbag · 06/09/2020 20:56

I also love the hamper idea and am going to copy it...

Lots of people are in for quite a shock surprise this Christmas, it would seem.
BrandoraPaithwaite · 06/09/2020 21:04

My DP would probably most like a smoking and vaping hamper 🙄
I could roll it all up in a massive rizla.

KimKsButt · 06/09/2020 21:04

The dusting slippers, I can’t remember what she calls them. The sparkly pen to go with the book. Defo wax melts and a nice burner. Lots of bits and bobs if you look on her high lights or her stories for a few days

TokyoSushi · 06/09/2020 21:08

Oh I would LOVE this!!

Flamingnorahs · 06/09/2020 21:14

@brandorapraithwaite I've done quite a few, off the top of my head theres some baby ones, with the usual paraphernalia, a favourite colours one (lots of small stuff but all in the same colour which featured jewellery, cosmetics, notebooks, pens, accessories etc. Looked quite impressive all in one colour. Box and wrap/bow to match) the bread making one I mentioned before, a glitz one, with lots of shimmer and shine cosmetics and trinkets A new house one, which I guess was similar to the hinch one I'll be making but that had plants, frames in too. Also the usual favourite food/drinks ones. You have GOT to make a giant cigarette paper wrapped one for your husband!

Idbemonica1 - I see what you did there Wink
This would be my perfect gift,
Elbow Grease
Minky
Scrub Daddy
Kermit
Dave the Duster
Febreeze
Dettol spray
Anything by Astonish
Flash Bathroom
A Sonic Scrubber
White Vinegar Spray

I could suggest loads more but I'll stop now! Smile

Flamingnorahs · 06/09/2020 21:22

Oh and a fireside one with everything in a coal bucket. Had a toasting fork for muffins, marshmallows, fancy box for matches etc.

BrandoraPaithwaite · 06/09/2020 21:27

We would have adored the fireside one too!
I thought of another one- new puppy or new kitten stuff for someone getting a new pet

AlwaysInAQ · 06/09/2020 21:27

Buff Tings !

Flamingnorahs · 06/09/2020 21:32

Ooh, that would be super cute! All in a pet bed/travel carrier!

Totally get it! My Mum would like that too, but I have not inherited the clean gene!! Definitely Zoflora - they often bring out new fragrances and sometimes a Christmas one. Some of those e-cloths, that are pretty damn good. Have a look on the Lakeland website - my Mum loves that shop for cleaning gadgetry.

nettie434 · 07/09/2020 00:04

It sounds a lovely present for your mum Flamingnorahs and much better than something that seems more 'presenty' but that she wouldn't like as much.

Thinking about the cellophane and single use plastic problem, would one of those beeswax wrap sheets that you can use instead of cling film work instead?

Thecobwebsarewinning · 07/09/2020 11:54

Let’s abandon the practice of extra ‘wee’ presents. If you are sure your mum would love this, just give her the hamper. Very few of us need more ‘stuff’, it’s just extra expense, packaging and landfill.

I recently gave my mum (in her 70s) a ladder for Christmas. It was an unconventional gift but she was thrilled with it. I didn’t give her a lot of extra wee gifts - one well chosen, thoughtful present is more than enough.

BuffaloCauliflower · 07/09/2020 18:11

Mrs Hinch’s autobiography is out in the autumn too, so you could put that in. I think it’s a lovely idea Smile let people know their own mum’s!

For my mum’s birthday this year I made her a colourful birthday grotto in the garden to have drinks in, other people’s mum’s might hate that 🤷🏼‍♀️

Flamingnorahs · 07/09/2020 18:40

Thank you all so much for all your suggestions! I got some things in tkmaxx today like retro looking brushes, cloths etc. Will go to home bargains tomorrow to get some products in nice bottles! I've also ordered a personalised caddy to use as the hamper.

@Thisismytimetoshine Ha ha, not necessarily cleaning products! I think that would be a surprise to my friends and family! But the idea of hampers I do like.
