Help! How can I get plasticine stains out of a carpet?

If anyone can offer advice I'd be soooooo grateful!

Despite my dire warnings about plasticine in the front room (new, goldy-beige carpet), I went in to hoover this morning and there is a dark green stain by the sofa that, upon picking with a fingernail, turned out to be a smear of dd's plasticine.

Although I got the actual stuff out, there is still a stain there. I've tried my SEBO cleaning powder and a stiff brush, also my magic Flash block (which got pen out of it last week!) and no joy.

Before I go to the expense of hiring a carpet shampooer, does anyone have any tips?

(and would a carpet shampooer work or be a waste of money?)

Thanks

oh dear. i don't know what to suggest, except wanted to say IF it happens again, do not try to get it out. leave it to totally dry, then just brush with a stiff brush or vaccuum. picking at it when its still soft will rub the colour into the carpet.

sorry !

what about fairy liquid? its an oil based product

dd got some sort of black goop thing on her new shirt the other day and the instructions said to wash with white vinegar. It worked like a dream. Might be worth trying on the plasticine.

Thank you both!

Will try with the white vinegar tonight and if that doesn't work, then the w/u liquid.

Unfortunately plasticine doesn't seem to dry out (well, not the sort dd has, anyway!) - that's playdoh/soft stuff!
