Where are you keeping your masks?

This might only make sense to people who are also very particular about sorting and organising things.

I’m gathering quite the stash of reusable cloth masks, I’ll use 3-4 during a work day (have to wear one most of the day) and obvs for out and about, transport, shops etc.

Where to keep the main supply waiting to be used?
Do they get their own section in the underwear drawer?
Should they get a basket alongside hats/scarfs/gloves etc near the front door?
Someplace else?
Already have 2 little pouches, one in my bag that comes to work, and one in the car, to have a few handy where I need them, and then tend to screw them up in my bag/pocket when used to go in the laundry when I get home.

Weird conundrum to have.

Maybe by the front door in a box, where you would keep outdoor things like gloves, then it’s easy to just put the clean ones in there

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 31/08/2020 21:04

Ours are also by the front door.

Worn, washed, back by the door, so we can all grab them with the keys on the way out.

I’ve got 6 teens in my house, so a lot of masks to deal with. I’ve got reusable sandwich bags from Amazon and labelled them for dirty and clean, and I’m giving them 4-5 at the beginning of the week. Every night I’m collecting dirty masks and washing them in a mesh bag handing the dry ones back out each morning. The sandwich bags are pencil case size so can go in any bag. I’ve got disposable ones in the car for emergencies and about 10 clean in my own handbag. At 50p each for disposables I’m determined to avoid them as much as possible!

megletthesecond · 31/08/2020 21:08

Clean ones hung over each person's chair by the front door. (Kitchen / diner / Cloakroom). We all like different styles and designs so I can't mix them up.

fairynick · 31/08/2020 21:21

Mine are in my knickers drawer! Not sure why Grin

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 31/08/2020 21:24

We have a box by the front door of cloth masks. We also have a couple of disposables in each car just in case we forget.

I have a ‘Covid pocket’ in my handbag. I keep my hand sanitiser and a stash of small sandwich bags to store used masks in until we get home and then they go straight in the wash. After they’ve been washed, they go straight into the box by the door. Can’t lose them that way!

Pipandmum · 31/08/2020 21:27

I keep ours in the medicine basket in the kitchen, or if just washed in the laundry cupboard.

cariadlet · 31/08/2020 21:27

I've got a bowl in the hall with clean masks in individual bags. There's also a few small bottles of handsanitizer in the bowl. Used ones are supposed to go straight in the laundry basket but dp and dd are still pretty rubbish at remembering that.

BonnieMcflurry · 31/08/2020 21:30

Stuffed in pockets and baby changing bags and still forget
Think this mask shit need to stop so pointless
Don't wear one half the time just like everyone else

Bargebill19 · 31/08/2020 21:32

Clean ones in a bag in each car. Used ones in washing machine. Only two of us. Need masks for work and shopping - for which we use the cars.

Persipan · 31/08/2020 21:35

Currently mine are on a hook on a rather nice vintage French coat rack thing I have in the hall. But I have a new pastel pink locker on order that'll be going in the hall too, so I'm thinking I'll get some magnetic hooks and make a feature of all the masks on one side of it.

2020notQuiteAsPlanned · 31/08/2020 21:37

Narrow hall so no room there sadly.
Clean ones in a basket in utility room for anyone to help themselves.

Dirty ones in relevant laundry bin on return.

Sometimes ironed before being returned to basket, but now mostly not!

megletthesecond · 31/08/2020 21:41

Mine are never ironed.

I do pull them back into shape when they go on the washing line though.

ineedaholidaynow · 31/08/2020 21:42

By the front door. DS back to school this week, so will need to get him into a routine to replenish his supply as will need them for the school bus

goteam · 31/08/2020 21:42

We have a tin we keep in the living room sideboard with all clean masks in. We hand wash after use and dry in the bathroom then return to the tin. Also have a narrow hall but so far we remember them when going out.

yawnsvillex · 31/08/2020 21:43

In the bin

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 31/08/2020 21:47

We have two reusable mesh vegetable bags from Sainsbury's. One marked clean, one dirty. When you get home, you put a used one in the dirty bag. Every few days that goes in the wash (as needed). When clean, I put them in the clean bag for people to retrieve as they go out.

We've got a stash of disposables in the car for if we forget, I'll swap this for spare reusables now we've built a stash (8 child size, 8 adult size. DH about to get work ones aswell).

val4 · 31/08/2020 21:49

Six of us here so lots of masks. I have small basket in utility room , on top of washing machine. Used masks are thrown into wash and when dry, put into basket. Biggest problem is reminding everyone to bring their masks when leaving house! Did see reusable zip lock bags on Amazon ,so getting few of them so can give 2 each to kids ( for clean and used masks) as heading back to school/college now. I also have few spare ones in car and handbag.

mommybear1 · 31/08/2020 21:58

Small basket in the hall by the front door spares for each family member in both cars and disposal stash in each car just in case.

MaltedMilk88 · 31/08/2020 22:16

Strewn all over the car / in pockets / desk drawer / anywhere 🤦‍♀️
I think I need to get organised!

justanotherneighinparadise · 31/08/2020 22:20

In the car.

ThatBitch · 31/08/2020 22:22

I have a drawstring bag hung on a hook in the under stairs cupboard where we keep the coats and shoes. Once washed and ironed they go straight in there.

Lemonylemony · 01/09/2020 21:50

Thankyou for the responses, feel less alone in pondering this now! I like the idea of drawstring bag hanging on hook near door. I think I have an unused old PE bag somewhere that would be perfect. Thankyou!!

On my gear stick

lljkk · 03/09/2020 21:41

I sort & organise but we don't routinely wash the cloth face covers. There's a stash on a hook in the kitchen, but each of us with own covers...could be anywhere. Often stuffed in backpack and trouser pockets i suppose.
