We are renting a flat while our home has major building work. The kitchen was brand new when we moved in and it has some kind of composite/engineered stone worktops. They are pale grey with tiny dark grey flecks (about the size of powdered chilli, so really tiny).
I spilled a few drops of sangria while pouring a glass so it ran down and made a ring at the base. I wiped it up as soon as I finished pouring the glass but it left a mark so I cleaned it using soap and water and it seemed to go but the next morning, in daylight, I could see the mark. It isn't red, just a darker grey ring, like a shadow.
Now I've spilled some black tea on it. Again I wiped it up immediately and cleaned but it left a darker stain.
I've had quartz, marble and wood worktops before (and never stained them), which are obviously quite easy to stain, but nothing like this. It is almost unusable. I can't believe a product specifically designed to be used as a worktop can be so easy to stain.
Any ideas how to get the marks out?
