Right, as we've all got our own Control Journals now there is no need to start this thread with a routine (but I think I may post mine later so I'm motivated to get it done so I can come back even later and say 'all done'!)

So, day 9 links are:

Today's reminders
Today's babystep (which is to add a 5 minute Room Rescue to morning routine)

OP posts:
SuperMonkey · 03/10/2007 20:32

Right. My routine for tomorrow (to motivate myself to tick them all off):

Morning
Get clean, dressed and make up on
Give DS breakfast
Put washing machine on
Empty dishwasher
Get my own breakfast
Make DSDs packed lunch
Clear away breakfast stuff
2 minute hotspot (kitchen window ledge)
Hang out washing
Write shopping list
5 minute room rescue (probably the bathroom)

Afternoon/evening
Go to the supermarket
Cook tea
Load dishwasher

Bedtime
Put dishwasher on
Rubbish out
Shine sink
Put all dirty washing in basket
Put clothes out for tomorrow

Blimey, that looks like a lot.

SuperMonkey · 04/10/2007 08:23

Oh we're full of joy this morning - DS slept through until 7:15am (he woke at 4:15am but spent half an hour chatting to the wallpaper then went back to sleep, good lad. So we're all happy and awake:

Morning
Get clean, dressed and make up on done
Give DS breakfast done
Put washing machine on done
Empty dishwasher done
Get my own breakfast doing
Make DSDs packed lunch done
Clear away breakfast stuff done
2 minute hotspot (kitchen window ledge)
Hang out washing
Write shopping list
5 minute room rescue (decided to do DS's nursery)

SuperMonkey · 04/10/2007 08:27

BTW - I've discovered that Johnsons Baby Wipes are good for giving the sink a final shine (makes sense really, got baby oil in them). Not very green but nice and easy.

I'll shut up now.

systemsaddict · 04/10/2007 08:33

Oh dear - just gave ds his breakfast, banana and cheerios - then turned round to find a segment of tangerine in his bowl. He hasn't had tangerine today so it must have been stored somewhere in his high chair since yesterday ... or maybe before ... urgh. Need to add 'clean highchair' to today's list I think! I hope I'm not the only complete slob on the thread!! hmm, negative to positive: it's good for his immune system ...

BUT: on plus side, I did lay out clothes last night, which meant I could get both me and ds up, washed / showered / changed and dressed to shoes before 7.45. I did take him into the bathroom with me as couldn't face getting up early and he was fine, just stood at the edge of the bath watching me shower. I always struggle with laying clothes out as evenings are my worst time and in the evening it seems so pointless, but it makes such a difference the next day.

Onward ... next job reading online reminders ...

systemsaddict · 04/10/2007 09:33

Just shining my sink and wondering - do you guys count the draining board as part of the sink? Ie if my draining board is full of drying dishes, does that mean my sink's not shiny? Or do you just count the actual sink bit?

SuperMonkey · 04/10/2007 09:38

I do include the draining board but I've got a dishwasher so it barely gets used.

flowerybeanbag · 04/10/2007 10:27

Dressed to shoes
Washing on
Sink shiny
Dishwasher emptied
Kitchen surfaces cleaned
Hotspot done
Read reminders done

Is 5 minute room rescue a declutter..? When I click on Cinders' link, it says add a 5-minute room rescue to routine, but then when I click on the link by that it talks all about decluttering in general.

DS was up at 5.15 this morning, then back to sleep and up every 20 minutes or so til wide awake at 6.30.

Not remotely interested in feeding til 8.00 though. I may consider dropping dreamfeed...

Morning all, by the way!

Bienchen · 04/10/2007 10:51

SA - I'm including the draining board and I also have a dishwasher. There are always a few bits that are washed by hand. I clear everything off draining board in the evening and rinse the board. Once a week a thorough clean with a bit of bleach...

flowerybeanbag - In my house a 5 minute room rescue means finding the worst room in the house (usually a difficult choice!) and spending 5 minutes in there putting things away. It's amazing the difference I can make in just 5 minutes. Shame I don't get round to doing it very often .

My sink shines
Dishwasher will go on after lunch
Laundry will happen if the 2 men with hammers manage to fix it soon
Might pootle off and do a hotspot as I can't get in the kitchen to make any lunch
Will do 5 minute rescue in dd's pit bedroom.

CindersNeedsHelp · 04/10/2007 12:36

The room I?m choosing for my 5 minute Room Rescue is our little room. It currently has in it all the unpacked boxes from when we moved in, and bags and bags of baby clothes DS has grown out of.

My Room Rescue plan is to sort through these baby clothes and get rid of any that I don?t want to keep for next baby (not that we plan next baby for a while, but there?s no point having stuff I?m only going to get rid of later!) It goes back to maternity clothes, of which I?m keeping all of them, and tiny baby clothes right through to today?s 12-18 months!

And today?s list look like this:

Morning Routine
Get dressed done
Check control journal done
Read today's reminders done
Turn negative voices into nice ones done
2 minute hot spot done
5 minute room rescue not yet see above Before bed routine
Shine your sink
2 minute Hot Spot
Pick out tomorrow?s clothes
Post tomorrow's daily links on MN

Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to Rolo
Happy birthday to yoooooooooouuuuuu

Life begins and all that.

I have decided my 5 minute room rescue is going to be in the kitchen, chucking out redundant stuff from cupboards, especially under the sink.

Worst room is actually our bedroom, but no point doing that because our ensuite is being done so there's all sorts of crap everywhere.

flowerybeanbag · 04/10/2007 12:50

Oh and apart from room rescue I also intend to wash some bedding this afternoon.

I was going to do it yesterday but when I went to find it it was not in the right place, couldn't find it anywhere.

Asked DH last night, apparently when he changed the spare room bed last, rather than taking the bedding off and putting in the washing basket, he bundled it under the bed...

systemsaddict · 04/10/2007 13:26

Took me ages to work out who Rolo was - I have been reading 'mylastrolo' as an exotic Italian nickname!! LOL

mylastrolo · 04/10/2007 14:12

thanks ladies f**k I'm 40 on Friday your as young as you feel!!! sorry for swearing but wouldn't that be a great name for a party

right frantic rush around still not ready and school run to do
no time for car to be cleaned.

hope this lovley weather keeps off
have a great week-end and hopefully i will catch up later.

bye for now

systemsaddict · 04/10/2007 15:28

Well, my lovely friends have taken ds off to play in the park and I have been able to do some well-overdue vacuuming (dust bunnies were about to join forces and mount a bid to take over the house), sorted recycling, and done a slovenly swipe of the kitchen floor a la home blessing hour. I know these are not current babysteps but want to celebrate doing them anyway, as without the feeling that I'm FLYing this would all have seemed much too overwhelming and I would be more likely to have spent the time hiding on the computer. They're still not back so I'm going to make myself a coffee and curl up with a book, rather than burn myself out doing the other things that need doing (changing ds bed and hanging out nappies).

Have a FABULOUS weekend mylastrolo!

flowerybeanbag · 04/10/2007 15:32

Well I did my 5 minute room rescue under the sink, can now see what's there without everything falling out all over the floor.

And have discovered some e-cloths I didn't know I had and was about to order from Lakeland.

Good this, isn't it?!

SuperMonkey · 04/10/2007 17:45

It is good!

I don't know why it's working but I am motivated to keep on top of all the cleaning. I've started swishing and swiping too so the toilets all smell delightful.

daisyandbabybootoo · 04/10/2007 17:48

hello....

...didn't do anything yesterday other than start my control journalas DD was grumpy and slept on top of me all day. I spent most of the day MNetting as a result, but didn't want to come on as i felt

Anyway, I am back with the programme today

dressed to shoes - check
2 min hotspot on living room shelves - check
sink shiney - check and doable check (did it over with shiny sinks today and it is gleaming)
room rescue - check...with the help of a friend who came over so we sorted ot all the laundry and took it upstairs and put it away. She was doing this whike I did the school run and when I got back she'd hoovered DDs room too , but I feel like a big fat cheat now! I also finally sorted ou the huge pile of old sheets and duvet covers into rags/charity/spares that has been taking up floor space in our back room since February.

will check back in after I've done my evening routine and catch up with everyone else

flowerybeanbag · 04/10/2007 17:50

And is anyone else finding they seem to have more time than they used to? What's that about then?!

beautifuldays · 04/10/2007 20:08

happy birthday mylastrolo, hope you have a great weekend

daisy - hope baby boo is better today, you can't do anything when you have a sick child can you?

flowery - i know what you mean, before starting this i was sure i definately didn't have time to clean and tidy my pigsty house, but cos you only do a little bit a day, you do have time and within a few days the house is starting to look a bit better. i also find i've got loads more time, prob cos i don't waste time trying to find stuff i can't find (like clothes in the morning!)! it's great this isn't it

dh is starting to call me a stepford wife tho!

funnypeculiar · 04/10/2007 20:32

Very late checking in to report a complete fly-fail day

Did get clothes ready last night, & managed to shine sink & do 2 min hotspot before leaving for work, then out all day - back to pick up kids, bath & bed ... but since 7pm they've been throwing up in unison/relay

Off to put on a load of washing before the next enslaught

beautifuldays · 04/10/2007 20:47

oh dear funnyperculiar, poor you, poor kids

hope they feel better soon, and stop hurling long enough for you to get some sleep

unknownrebelbang · 04/10/2007 22:35

Happy birthday mylastrolo and have a fab weekend.

Sorry to hear the children aren't well, fp.

Am I the last to report in again?

It's lovely having some fairly clear rooms, lol, even if DH is the one who's done most of the work. And I know what you mean about seeming to have more time, it's cos we're not clearing clutter before we can even start a job.

Anyway, routine:
Exercise bike and ready (no shoes, lol)
read reminders, adjusted routine, etc

shiny sink
hot spot - kitchen window ledge too, lol
clothes/uniforms ready for tomorrow

Five min room rescue was straightening up the airing cupboard (so I could put all the bedding away, lol)

My 15 mins (day 10) was sorting the bedding and putting it away.
