Washer dryer or seperates

Age old question and I couldn’t see an up to date thread. Considering buying a washer dryer as no space for a separate tumble unless it goes in the garage - not really somewhere I want to be going with nice clean clothes as it’s a bit of a way from our house.

Does anyone have a washer drier that they would recommend?

Many thanks for any help offered, last w/d I had was about 15 years ago and it was awful, hoping that tech has improved

I had a washer-dryer while living in a flat. It was quite good really. I can't see lots of differences with separated that I have now in a house. Separated just take more space I suppose. If you don't have enough space for two of them, don't worry about it. Just take combined.

We last had a combined 20 years ago and it was awful. When we moved here we made do without a dryer for a few years bit eventually put one in the shed (brick built like a garage, at the far end of the garden). We only use it in winter, its no bother taking the washing up and down there and it doesn't get dirty.

Everyone will tell you they are awful, but I guess having a dryer at all is better than not. We managed to put our dryer under the stairs for a while.

We have a Bosch and it's been fine as a combined. Probably not quite as good as a separate dryer but better than not having one at all.

We had one and it was terrible took about 3-4 hours to dry bedding/towels in it!!
Also you have the issue if you need to do a few loads of washing that you have to wait until you have finished drying!

They aren't as good as separates but I suppose it boils down to space etc. If I had limited space I would buy a combined because I'd find it hard to manage without a drier

They are fine pre-family or if you have good drying space inside so only need to use the dryer very occasionally, but otherwise I would say grit your teeth and go for a big separate one in the garage.

Thanks all, the garage issue is more due to the fact that I’m disabled and tend to drop stuff fairly often. The walk to the garage would be somewhere I guarantee I would drop it so the two in one seems appealing, I just don’t want something as rubbish as one 15+ years ago, I was hoping tech advances would mean that the problem had been solved.

You can put a condensing dryer literally anywhere.
