Hi

I'm gutted having just had a hob cover made for our kitchen which went on the hob on Wednesday DH has managed to mark it he thinks he put something on it from the dishwasher - photo attached. Any ideas to get rid of this? I've tried fairy and baby oil so far no luck! 😭

Please don't try this until someone comes along and knows better than me but is it a brushed steel surface? Could you buff it out with a Brillo pad?

(Like a DeLorean Grin)

I’ve spent ages polishing my draining board, had a mark on it with “peek”.

I’ve got some specific stainless steel cleaner but it’s hard to say what’s caused that mark so I’m not sure if it would remove it.

Bar keepers friend might work. Also one of those magic sponges worth a try?

Fanthorpe · 03/08/2020 10:37

Oh yes, that Peek stuff is very good!

White vinegar or WD-40?

ifoundafoxcaughtbydogs · 03/08/2020 11:00

Bar keepers friend is cheap and works wonders on granite for stains that nothing else will shift so I'd try that.

(Maybe spot test first but it seems surprisingly powerful for something that is gentle enough to be rinsed off down the train with a septic tank)

@DustyMaiden thank you I've not heard of Peek I'll give it a go - you sink looks amazing btw Grin

@mommybear1
Thankyou

As a last resort a magic eraser might work, obviously only try on a very small area first.

mommybear1 · 09/08/2020 13:49

@fruitpaw thank you I may try it no success with the other products so far 😕

I think what’s happened is called ‘rouging’ I looked it up, the hot item from the dishwasher was the clue.

mommybear1 · 10/08/2020 15:42

@Fanthorpe thank you I have had a google now you have suggested that and it would seem to fit. Thank you very much for your help.
