MidnightCitrus · 25/07/2020 21:37

so i know its a very exciting subject, but our ironing board is a through back to our student days, and they are LONG behind us (20+ years!)

I hate it, its hard to put away, its noisy, its heavy

on a good side, its solid and its heavy

I want a new one, any recommendations?

Brabantia Ironing boards - I have the extra large/tall one great for a bad back Grin

Mines is a Vileda OP but very sturdy.

I am the opposite of you - a short arse (but obviously have my board on a shorter setting) but one thing I love about the ironing board is how smooth the mechanism is for putting it up and down as I have arthritis is my back. I would imagine if you are tall, that feature might benefit you.

It is also a great size for doing the bed linens. Got it in Argos, can’t remember the price, maybe £20 ish

Sorry, I got mixed up. Mommybear1 is tall.

It is the Smart Ironing Board in blue I have.

Just had a nosey at Argos and they are wanting £55 for it 😶

Amazon have it for £32 if that is within your budget. I would say though it is a sturdy bit of gear, didn’t realise I had this for about two years already, so sorry about the price being a bit higher.

32 is fine!! Its the 90+ brabantia ones I'm not loving

I’ve got the Addis shirt master. I do my bedding on it too.

Sainsbury's one did just fine for me. Folds quickly and easily.

I bought a Minky one from Dunelm which has wheels so you can wheel to/from cupboard (when in collapsed position). It's brilliantly sturdy and can be adjusted for many heights but the cover was pretty poor and thin. I bought a Branantia silver heat reflecting cover for it, put it on top of the rubbish minky cover and it was instantly upgraded.
