What to expect from cleaner?

I've just hired a new cleaner and to be honest I'm a bit underwhelmed. I must admit my kitchen was a bit grubby but not really disgusting I paid 3 hours and she spent the 3 hours just cleaning the cupboards which are matte and she says are horrible because they don't come up shiny.
I pulled out the fridge and freezer last night which was dusty and hadn't been cleaned (the most grim job) timed myself and it only took me 15 minutes to do then I cleaned inside the microwave as that hadn't been done either.
The rest of the house was untouched I'm not sure what to expect as this was the first clean but I don't think I'm being unreasonable to expect a bit more?

Hi. Just had the opposite experience. 2 hours, I asked her to only vacuum and clean the bathrooms as I thought would be plenty of work. She ended up cleaning the kitchen cabinets too.

I would have not been happy either, but it may be an issue of time management or "perfectiontism" rather than efficiency. If there's a next time I would make clear what you expect as a minimum upfront.

I had two cleaners for 90 mins
They hoovered and dusted all the way through, cleaned two bathrooms, cleaned the kitchen (not inside cupboards) but all surfaces and outside cupboards, microwave etc wiped down
Bathrooms and kitchen mopped
Bed made and house smelt amazing

I wouldn't expect the cleaner to pull appliances out in the kitchen and to only clean inside the microwave if asked. Perhaps a list of jobs would work?

I've gone back to cleaning work recently and my clients give me a list each time ..one is organised and messages me the night before and we agree hours etc .. others give me a list and I'll do what I can within the set hours
It is tricky when you first start somewhere new and easy to get bogged down finishing a task , I usually ask to be shown round and do a general clean the first time , then once that's on top of each week do an extra .. like the fridge, wash out bins , defrost freezer, skirting boards etc
I like a list I can refer to and tick off and we both know where we are with it then
