Flies in the kitchen

Bit of a dull one but what would you recommend to deter / get rid of flies in the house (not too expensive).

its only the occasional one but Ive tried Raid spray (dont like much and does not seem to work) and also these things from amazon which you stick to kitchen window (ditto again about do not seem to work)

There is currently a thread in chat about ‘tips’. There is a recommendation on there about dealing with flies. Something about coins in water.
