Mud stains

DS had a dog with muddy paws jump up on him - he was out so the mud dried on. I have washed twice with vanish but there is still a visible stain.
Is it beyond hope? What are my options?

Have you tried rubbing washing up liquid into the stain and then washing with bio powder
