Has anyone tried Devon Duvet wool quilts or bed toppers? They look interesting but is it advertising hype?

I’ve not seen them but I have a Baavet wool duvet and love it.

FrogFairy · 10/07/2020 22:24

I have never heard of Devon Duvets but I have a mattress topper from Baavet and a duvet from The Woolroom and am very pleased with both.

lexloofah · 10/07/2020 22:28

I have no experience of that particular company but can recommend wool, we have baavet duvets, toppers and pillows and a wool company topper

I have a devon duvets super king sized duvet, the medium weight one, I think, and a john lewis egyptian cotton duvet cover. I luffs it very much. Its not ridiculously heavy, but cosy and warm, without making me feel sweaty and clammy. They delivered super quick as well. DH likes to sleep with the overhead fan on, and I'm comfy cosy under the duvet while he does.

Noidea2114 · 10/07/2020 22:49

We have a wool mattress, pillow cases, duvet and mattress covers. The mattress is the most comfortable we have ever slept on.

Thank you everyone, I think I'll go for it then, quilt first and then maybe the topper.

Can you use an electric blanket with a topper?

OP posts:
Noidea2114 · 11/07/2020 16:12

You won't need an electric blanket. Wool is cool in the warm months and warm in the cold.
You never need to wash. This ruins them. I put on the line every 2 months to air on a windy day.

Hi Noidea and anyone else who has a wool mattress.

Where do you recommend for a wool mattress? I’ve been looking at John Ryan, Baavet and The Woolroom. Baavet mattresses do not seem to have many reviews at all.

I don’t want to spend more than £1250 ideally.

Thanks

No, but I posted recently looking for recommendations for a goose down one. I was persuaded by responses not to buy goose down due to cruelty & to go for a Baavet. I've had it about 2 weeks and I love it.

MiniMum97 · 21/07/2020 19:25

I have wool duvets from baavet and greenfibres.

Check out baavets bargain box before buying. Got a really good deal. Apparently they are seconds but mine is perfect and they explain the fault in the description.

MiniMum97 · 21/07/2020 19:26

Oh sorry meant to say I love both of them.

Greenfibres are organic if that interests you.

Neither use flame retardants.

namechange12a · 21/07/2020 20:39

I'm also considering a wool duvet. Do you need to buy different togs or are they just general and suitable for any time of the year?

Happydaysandhappysmiles · 10/11/2020 23:09

Devon duvets do seconds too. Our children have them and they are brilliant. Considering upgrading our own bedding too. Those of you with sweaty husband's, does the wool duvet ever smell horrible? Our feather one doesn't and obviously hasn't been washed (don't want to breathe in dry cleaning chemicals whilst we sleep).

Can you wrap it around you like a feather one or does it rather sit on top of you like a synthetic duvet does?

Thanks
