Ooooh, I'd like to know the answer to this too so I'll keep a watch on this thread.

me too

Dry cleaning is probably the most reliable way.

MrsBadger · 26/09/2007 21:36

black bike chain-type grease you mean?
De-Solve-It (from tesco etc with the stain devils) but have only ever used it on fresh, never on washed-in stains

for butter-type grease, Vanish stick and a nail brush

milliways · 26/09/2007 21:36

De-solv-it spray has worked wonders for me (I found it recommended on MN, tried it, and it gets old stains out).

White spirit (test it on a bit you can't see first) works an absolute treat

sazzybee · 26/09/2007 21:37

and it's v cheap

nell12 · 26/09/2007 21:38

sprinkle the patch with bi-carb and leave for a bit

then wash

It may take a couple of goes

Baby talcum powder also works well

MilaMae · 26/09/2007 21:45

Great!!!!! plenty of ideas, will get cracking on dc's drawfuls of food grease stained clothes. Have enough clothes to try all the above.

Is De-solve-it ok with food grease???

Neat washing up liquid was successful when I got grease from our car on ds2's footmuff by accident. It got it out after I'd washed it once already too.
