Window cleaning

Hi all, I've got a few stupid questions to ask before I hunt for some people to come and clean my windows. I'd much rather ask them online than on the phone!

  • do you pay for them as a one-off or do they come back repeatedly? And if they do, how often?
  • how much do you pay?
  • would you expect them to do your back windows or just what they can do from the front?
  • how do you get your windows clean from the inside?

Thanks!

We pay £10 for all windows to be cleaned externally (10 in total). I sometimes ask for them to clean the insides of the patio door and our bay window as well (pre-Covid), for which they charge another £3. They come every 6 weeks and start working without asking!

Thanks! How do you clean the inside of your windows? Mine just end up streaky!

£15 to clean the outside and leave drops. I really don't need my windows cleaned very months. I'll cancel the cleaner and do it myself... about every 2 years.

We had ours done as a one-off for about £20, including 2 French doors and 3 velux. He'll do a regular clean or just as and when.

Inside windows I always dry off with a muslin cloth (when the glass isn't soaking but just damp). Really helps avoid streaks.

£5 a time, they come every 6 weeks. One off it's £10. They take cash or bank transfer.
I use a glass cloth and cleaner inside when he has been. Glass cloth was 39p from home bargains and the glass cleaner is about £1 from any shop - never had streaks, you might using too much product/cloth is too damp.

I just use vinegar and crumpled up newspaper.

I use a squeegee and a glass cloth inside as well, but admittedly I still get streaks on windows I have cleaned myself.

Window cleaner comes roughly every 5 weeks. Charges £12. We have lots of windows and a few glass doors but all one level. He does the entire outside. He also cleans the sills. We do have a karcher for inside but the glass cloth gets better results. Trick is to only use the tiniest bit of moisture or you will get streaks, also try to avoid cleaning them when the sunlight is bright on them as that seems to lead to streaks too.

Thanks for the tips!
