Removing stains from a wool carpet (urine)

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had any advice for removing urine stains from a cream wool carpet? My lurcher was distressed by the storms last night and relieved herself outside of our bedroom door during the evening (didn't let us know she wanted to go outside!) We didn't realise until later and the urine was cool to the touch. I've soaked it up as much as possible but there is a distinct yellow stain on the carpet. It is a carpet with a looped "ribbed" effect so I can't really scrub at it as it will destroy the ribbing.

Are there any effective methods of removing stains from wool carpets? I know they usually say just dab at it with a little soapy water but I have had issues before with the water itself staining the carpet! I'm never, ever, having a (cream!) Wool carpet again, it's a nightmare.

Thank you so much for any help or suggestions anyone may have.

I would rent a carpet cleaning machine, or buy a second hand bissel spot cleaner (seriously one of the best things I own in terms of cleaning!)

Don't forget to spray with that stuff that takes the smell out so she doesn't go there again!
