Greasy film on ceramic tiled floor,

Help! I cooked some burgers yesterday that have somehow left a very fine, greasy film all over the kitchen. I’ve managed to get the counters clean with Koh and e cloths but I can’t seem to get it off the floor. They are high gloss black tiles that show every smear.

So far I’ve tried Koh and an ecloth mop. Then Flash Ultra and new ecloth mop head. several gos with the Flash Ultra followed by the steam mop over and over again with regular changes of the mop heads. It looks perfect when done but It actually still has a very fine film of grease that shows the pattern of my trainers if I walk over it - or the imprint of the kids socks!

Please help. The floor is always a nightmare to keep clean but this is a new low.

I don’t know what all the products are but presumably you need something to emulsify the oil ... so soap? Just hot soapy water

Have your tried normal washing up liquid and hot water? That might do it.

I would put neat washing up liquid down and scrub the stain, then wash off and dry. Always works for me if I have grease on the floor.

I also suggest washing up liquid, it's literally made to breakdown grease, I also use it on windows, stained clothing, all sorts - I'm a big fan of washing up liquid.

Yup fairy with some lemon juice maybe.

Thank you everyone. Fairy liquid, hot water and lots of scrubbing and buffing seems to have fixed it.

Over the years I’ve bought a variety of products and appliances for cleaning floors but sadly there doesn’t seem to be any alternative that beats scrubbing on your hands and knees with soap and water.

Exactly same problem with black porcelain tiles in kitchen, drove me round the bend. Needed to incorporate bicarbonate soda to absorb the film (most of film created from unnatural ingredients). Bicarbonate with hot water then dried with plain kitchen towel to absorb film afterwards 👌

I find elbow grease (the bright yellow cleaning fluid) best for greasy surfaces,it just melts the grease away. Tbh it’s probably the same as bike degreaser - it says it can be used on bikes, engines etc.
