Slugs in the house - leave a light on.

Slugs in the house!!!
we tried intensive cleaning, removing skirting / kick boards, blocking holes all without success. Salt just seems wrong.

we never see them in the day so we started leaving a lamp on in the middle of the kitchen floor. In the evenings that followed we removed a few slugs that might have been in residence. Following that we have been slug free. Some articles suggest slugs move toward light to avoid predators so I may be wrong but while it works I will leave a light on.

We had slugs in the house. We discovered that they were coming up through a small gap in the floorboards and when we lifted them found we had a leak under the house which was providing an ideal slug habitat. Got the leak repaired and never saw another one.

How much did that cost out of interest @MrsMoastyToasty? I think we may have similar

I honestly can't remember because it was about 25 years ago and replacing the water supply pipe formed a very small part of a major refurbishment and building an extension.

They are coming in near my back door. Driving me mad. No idea how they get in.

I am happy to go nuclear. Any suggestions?

It is near where we the dogs food bowl is....is that a factor....help!

Round our way, we have a very high water table and get water under the house when it rains heavily for a few days. We can't get rid of the critters. Our neighbours all get them too (even if rarely admitted).

Removing and repouring a new concrete floor helped in the kitchen (we didn't do that just because of the slugs!). We still get them in the dining room but it seems a little better as we improved the air brick ventilation under the floorboards. They still seem to come up under rain though. I hate them .

Had them for years, nothing worked... Until, hedgehogs appeared in the garden! Hedgehogs love slugs. Just leave a water dish out for them and create hedgehog gaps in fences if you can.

I know this is an old thread but clearly I need to get a pet hedgehog. Since this is not really an option and 3 of the slimy little bastards have just been evicted from my hallway, any ideas?. I hate doing it but have resorted to salting the front door step.

Dh stood on one in the middle of the night a few days ago, it was very amusing for me and the dc, not so much for dh 🤣🤣
