Are any washing machines eco/sustainable?

Our 3rd washing machine has just died - DH & I have been together 27 years

Each one has died sooner than the previous one!

What new machine is likely to be eco to run and last a reasonable length of time?

To be honest as as shocking as it is, the general consensus is 5 years is now considering good and beyond very good.

Bosch have always been in the "better" range, but even they like most other things are starting to make compromises for allowing a cheaper point of sale price.

The ones to definitely stay away from are Hoover, Candy, Hotpoint or Indesit you'll be lucky to get 3 years.

Hate Bosch - have not had luck with their machines. Beko is the brand I have. I did have to replace it after six years - the machine worked fine but the door latch snapped and when I spoke to the service guy he said call out and parts and labour would be almost £200! The machine didn't cost much more than that in the first place.

I was hoping that rule about spare parts might have made things easier

If you're willing to fix a machine yourself, then parts and guidance are available online. We kept our last Bosch going with new door seal, etc.

I think the very high spins nowadays aren't good for their lifespan. Certainly not for some of my clothes - so I've gone from 1400rpm back to 1200 yomreduce holes.

That's interesting about spin speeds

Thanks
