Best mop for shiny floors

I'm worried I've made the worst mistake of my life.

Just had our new kitchen finally finished. It's stunning and just what I wanted provided no one bloody walks on it. No good with 2DC, 2 cats and a dog. It's similar to below picture.

What would be the best mop. I've always used dettol in a spray mop previously but it's just looks streaky and sticky on the new floor.

I don't really want a steam or anything I have to plug in: I must mop my floors 10x a day with the spray mop, with dogs and kids walking though. Need something handy and convenient

Could cry, only been done since Friday :(

I have this one here, just fill the bucket with water and a splash of this cleaner.

loopylindazdaughter · 08/06/2020 20:48

Oh wow, and it dries shiny??

pretty shiny, yes! We don't have the exact same floor but it leaves mine clean and shiny (not that it stays like that for long)

TokyoSushi · 08/06/2020 20:56

I'm really sorry OP but we have this floor, 2x DC, a cat and a dog, I'm afraid it makes me want to weep. If I could afford to rip it all out I absolutely would.

Hopefully somebody here can help us!

Your telling me. My own stupid fault. The floor alone cost thousands to buy and fit :( just totally gutted

My mum has a similar floor and has this from Lakeland. It's not cheap but it's cordless and washes/dries at the same time. Both my mum and dad use it, and it's great to whip out and clean up spills. Don't know how long the charge is for but mum said it was decent.

With a floor like that though, you need to sweep and hoover up dust a lot (we have an expansive wooden floored kitchen and various animals - I feel I sweep up all the time). I swear by a rubber broom, similar to what to see in hairdressers, as it collects everything, which is often shocking Shock

Ours has a sheen to it but maybe not as shiny as yours ......we use a cheaper version of what @sleepismysuperpower1 uses with flash and bleach!

@fuuuuuuck so that's just with flaw and bleach?

Wish I could
Afford the powder glide. I'd just ordered
A rubber broom thanks

Sotry to say OP you have ruined your life. Got shiny porcelain 7 years ago in our new build, 3 kids amd a dog later its the absolute bain of my life and i cant wait until we can afford to replace it. Im thankful everyday we didnt have the money at the time to carry them out to the front hall and down the corrider (bungalow). I use a vileda mop with a capful of dettol and capful of zoflora. Ot too streaky but nkt supershiny either. Im.bot bothered anymore as long as theyre clean.

TokyoSushi · 10/06/2020 23:27

Just coming back to say that I wet mop with flash floor & zoflora and then dry mop with one of those microfibre flat head mops. It takes about 45 minutes and ideally needs doing about 3 times a day, I can only bear to do it once a week as it takes so long! I also have a flash spray mop with water & zoflora which helps, but I really hate it!! I might try a rubber broom!

I have similar floor also with 2 DC, a cat and a dog.. Also don’t know what possessed me but it does look fab for the first 5 minutes of cleaning Grin I use a mop and bucket with any floor cleaner in for a proper wash of the floor. But I also have a spray mop filled with window cleaner and use that to keep it nice and shiny!

loopylindazdaughter · 12/06/2020 08:22

Window cleaner!!! What a good idea

Unknown2020 · 12/06/2020 09:19

It’s amazing on mine OP, although I now spend a small fortune on window cleaner with my obsession to keep it shiny! Grin

Barkingfuckingdogs · 12/06/2020 18:16

Yep, window cleaner works a treat.

LadyEloise · 14/06/2020 13:00

Life is too short go be washing a kitchen floor 3 times a day !!!
Get a steam mop.

nbee84 · 14/06/2020 13:03

I just came on to say use window cleaner too. I have a microfibre mop and it comes up shiny but not not slippery with glass cleaner.

theneverendinglaundry · 14/06/2020 13:54

We have the same floor but the tiles are black. I have found using something that doesnt foam up to be the best - we use disinfectant (zoflora or Astonish) diluted. Anything that foams just leaves streaks.

I use an old empty bottle of wilko floor cleaner and squirt it on the floor, then mop with an ecloth mop.
