What on earth is this in my attic?

Started sorting the attic and saw this monstrosity in the corner. No activity coming from it, but there’s a buzzing in another corner! Has anyone any idea what this is, or if it’s safe to attempt to remove it?

I would think it’s a wasps nest.

NFC. Is that a thing to say? No fecking clue, but I want to know!

Id contact a local beekeeper and see if they can help you before you contact pest control. They may be able to move them elsewhere rather than kill them

I’d say it’s a nest of some sort. I’m not sure but I’d say it’s a fuck off enormous wasps nest.

Best to leave it until at least September. If it is wasps they will die or move on (usually) except the Queens and they will be sleepy.

If you can avoid killing them please do so as they are pollinators, like bees.

Could be a wasps nest. My dB removed one from the loft. It looked very similar. As he said ‘it’s got to be the most proud and stupidest things I’ve ever done in my life!’ 😂

Someone who knows about these things is taking a socially distant look now!

So the weird looking thing appears to be empty - possibly was a wasps nest once but we’re leaving it there for now until we’re sure. The buzzing from the other side is a bee’s nest in the insulation, with baby bees and all. Again, leaving it and hoping that they don’t get angry when we use the attic! Don’t think our DD will offer to go up again anytime soon tho’!
