Help, oven smoking. Is it just dirty?!

We have had our oven about 8 months, this evening after about 10 minutes of cooking some chicken thighs I noticed the kitchen was full of smoke. Turned it off and also noticed the handle of the oven was very hot (usually it stays cool). I put the chicken in the other oven and turned the smoking one back on and it started smoking again.
That oven is the one we use most, it’s a bit dirty but not excessively so. Has anyone else had these issues? Was it just simply dirty or could this be something else?

Usually the smoking is the hint that my oven needs a clean - spattered grease on the walls/ shelves. Not sure about the handle though.

Also mine never looks excessively dirty until I start cleaning it and see the dirty water Grin
