FLYing???

SAHMof1 · 20/09/2007 13:56

Have only just found these threads, so have just checked out FLYing yahoo group, but not sure how it works really. Should I try the babysteps?

And, out of curiosity, how many of you put your shoes on? I think getting dressed first thing is a good idea though. Currently DS and I eat breakfast in PJs while DH is already dressed for work.

I have just started on teh FLYbabies scheme and it has been fab. There were a group of us that started at teh same time. We are on day 27ish now so nearly finished. It is amazing how it changes your outlook on housework.

I havn't joined the Yahoo group, but as there were a few of us doing it here we have supported each other.

Feel free to come and see us....the more the merrier.

I agree with SMS. I've been on the FLY threads for a year, but do it almost entirely via mumsnet. You are welcome to join us on the babysteps, or just jump into te regular FLYthread . Baby stepping is the most effective way to start imo though.

I don't wear shoes in the house. Nor do many of the other regulars on here. I do have shoes by the back door so I have no excuse not to take out the rubbish or hang up the washing when it needs doing now.

the babysteps have been a godsend for me. Made me reevaluate what had to be done and how. I do it entirely through MN, and the babysteps group have been incredibly supportive as I found my feet. I no longer have those really depressed days where I look around and despair of having a tidy house. A little bit here and there really does make a difference.

(And I can't function unless I'm showered and dressed. But I never wear shoes in the house. I have a pair of those really attractive wellie clogs at the back door that I can slip into to take out rubbish, etc.)

OK, I shined the sink yesterday and DH said it looked amazing, and DS and I were actually DRESSED having breakfast with DH this morning. Tomorrow I?m on day 3, which is more of the same.

Where is the regular FLYthread?

You might find it helpful to join the babysteps thread before you join the regular thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/2430/392263 but ofcourse you could just jump right in and join us on the hard core FLYing thread

Yikes - that list seems daunting itself!

You guys have very long lists guys!

OP posts:
gibberish · 21/09/2007 13:48

You don't have to start with those lists though - you start with very small steps and get the house ready before you start all the intensive cleaning. Don't let those lists put you off.

flylady great for establishing routines

getting dressed first does help

shoes optional imo

SAHMof1 · 21/09/2007 13:50

Do you guys post your list for the day up as a reminder of what you need to do then?

I guess once I?ve done the babysteps I?ll have a list too!

OP posts:
babypowder · 21/09/2007 14:00

I post my list up to shame myself into doing everything No, not really - its just a useful way of reminding myself everyday of my routines so I don't fall back into the chaos I lived in before! I expect that I will stop posting the long list everyday soon (as it will be habit, with any b**dy luck!), and start to really focus on the 'extras'

Hi SAHMof1. Congragulations on starting to FLY. I am finding it really difficult to get stuck in. Really want to get going with the whole FLYlady thing but find it overwhelming. Would be happy to do Babysteps with you if you're on?

SAHMof1 · 23/09/2007 23:12

Hi glitterchick. Would love to start babysteps with you. Anyone else want to start with us?
