They are a couple of mm long and I have about 20 in one room of the house!

Weevils! They will eat the roots of your plants and kill them.

Cockroaches are much bigger than that. 20 in a room would be horrific!
If they're all in one room I'd say they're more likely to be woodworm beetle and you'd need to find where they're emerging and get it treated pronto.

It'd be very unlikely to be vine weevils unless the room is full of plants, plus it doesn't look like one (horrible things).

I found a wicker basket someone had given me with baby bits in, full of holes!!!!! Woodworm it is... yikes.
