Best vacuum for pet hair?

IndieTara · 20/05/2020 05:20

I need recommendations please, for once I'm in a position to buy a new vacuum and need one that's great for picking up pet hair and long human hair.
I keep eyeing the various Sharks that state anti hair wrap technology but really have no idea where to start.
My house is small, no stairs and a mix of hard floor and carpet, I also need to vacuum the sofa and chair and like a long attachment for the ceiling.
What do you all recommend?

Have you looked at Miele Cat & Dog?

BelfastNonBlonde · 20/05/2020 06:13

Miele 💯

blackcat86 · 20/05/2020 06:26

We have a Dyson animal 2 that is very good. We also have a roomba type robo vac.

IndieTara · 20/05/2020 13:29

The Miele one hasn't come up in my googling yet so will have a look thanks

We replaced our Dyson stick hoover with a Gtech K9 stick hoover (bagless) and very impressed with it.

We have a dog that sheds enough to fill a cushion everyday and it manages very well.

I'd have preferred the £600 Dyson but our washing machine died at the same time so compromises had to be made!

Miele Cat and Dog. Here is a chap who reviews vacuum cleaners, and I mean a lot of vacuum cleaners. He repeats the same tests for every vacuum cleaner. Here he is with pet hair from his dog mushed into the carpet. The cat and dog version comes with the rotating head which you need to pet hair, or in my case just to hoover up all my long hair. I love mine, it is a C3 and so powerful it lifts the bloody carpet off the grippers but you can reduce down the suction.

IndieTara · 20/05/2020 13:49

@mudpiemaker I can't get the sound in that video. Do you know his name please so I can search for the review?

@jemima hadn't thought about a Gtech so thanks will check it out

I have cats and dogs. I got a Shark Lift Away for pet hair - it works really well and was cheaper than the Dyson Animal I had previously

HollowTalk · 20/05/2020 13:51

I've just bought the Shark cordless vacuum for pets - I don't have pets but my hair falls out such a lot and it's wrecked other vacuum cleaners. It's absolutely great.

IndieTara · 20/05/2020 13:54

@purple and @hollow are those the ones with the anti wrap for hair? Does it work?

Fifthtimelucky · 20/05/2020 13:54

I bought the Shark lift away a few months ago and it deals much better with pet and human hair than the Dyson animal did.

HollowTalk · 20/05/2020 13:56

Yes it does work - I had a Dyson (corded) before and I only had to vacuum for ten minutes before I'd have to pull my hair out. I've never had to do that with the Shark. It's great for the stairs, too, as you just use the top part of it. Also it goes nearly flat for under cupboards. There's a trigger thing that you pull if you want it to give it some welly Grin

Moondust001 · 20/05/2020 13:59

I don't rate Dyson - been there and didn't pick up anything. Miele used to be great but were ruined after the EU set power limits - my most recent one was as useless as the Dyson. Now use Shark and it's great.

wonkytonkwoman · 20/05/2020 14:04

I just ordered the Shark lift away with pet hair thingy yesterday. it's replacing my Miele cylinder which also worked ok but i had to buy attachments for picking up hair. And the bags are expensive.

I only really decided to splurge on the Shark becasue I've saved so much petrol money in the last 7 weeks by WFH that I can treat myself. I should spend the change on getting out more, obviously.

mudpiemaker · 20/05/2020 14:10

@IndieTara it was actially reviewed by Mumsnetters which is part of the reason I bought it.

But it is the Miele Cat and Dog C3, here is a link to the Miele review

I chose it because it has high rating by the asthma society or something like that and I have both carpet and hard flooring. It was one of the highest performing in terms of hard wood and carpet for its ability to remove tiny particles. I absolutely love it.

IndieTara · 20/05/2020 14:10

@wonkytonk I can only afford one as I've just received my redundancy money! Not going mad but I really really need a decent vacuum.

A Harry, part of the Henry hoover range, it’s brilliant and had some of the best reviews online, when I was looking for a pet hair vacuum cleaner last year.

ieatmainelylobster · 20/05/2020 14:54

I have a Miele cat and dog - I would get another but a bag less one- blizzard I think.

chocolatespiders · 21/05/2020 10:21

@wonkytonkwoman please let us know what you think of your new shark.
I have a 10 year old Sebo which I would like to change!
Would love to try one in a shop but cant yet!

howdidigettobe50something · 21/05/2020 21:06

We bought a Shark cordless anti hair wrap 2 weeks ago. We have 2 dogs and it picks up so much more than the Henry we had before. It's really easy to use and the charge lasts long enough to vacuum the whole house.... Would definitely recommend!
