How to clean pebble style rug

I’m looking to clean my pebble type woollen rug. Has anyone done it themselves? Any tips and advice would be gratefully received thanks.

We put ours over ds's play house roof! Dh jet washed it and left it to dry!! Sprinkled washing powder on first!!
Dried lovely!!

That made me laugh, wasn’t the answer I was expecting! At least DS would help if I did this. @Windyatthebeach, was yours wool and did it shrink?

Was from Next - not wool. Didn't shrink although the backing isn't as stiff now!!
Have done a few IKEA ones too - also not wool!!

Similar type though!

Maybe it would be easier to use a dry cleaning service?
