How can I make this white again?

Stupidly lent SIL and BIL DD's beautiful white velour Grobag for their baby. It was one of the only new things DD had (most of her stuff was second hand) and it's come back to us a dirty grey and lost all its softness. They've clearly washed it with dark colours and no softener or anything. Have washed it once with softener, Vanish and Glo-White then tumble dried but it's still the same.

Any ideas how I can get it back to how it was? Would a tiny bit of bleach work? I'm really upset about it :( Can't even replace it as Grobag sold to Tommy Tippee and they're now just doing the bog standard cotton ones instead of all the beautiful designs they used to do.

The Ecover laundry whitener is the best whitener I have ever tried. It might be worth a shot?

Soak in non-chlorine bleach (Vanish for whites and similar)solution then wash.
You are lucky to have had it returned at all.

Disclaimer I have not tried this on clothes but have on Tupperware and white plastic (bear with me!) Milton sterilising tablets? Soak in a bowl with three tablets and see if that helps if not my Mom used to swear by sterident dental tablets for her whiter than white nets you could try a soak and then a machine wash with those. Sunshine is also good for whites so perhaps said and wash them hang out in the sun? Good luck!
