Thinning our kids clothes in lockdown

So many times over lockdown having 4 kids has felt like a really bad decision. Not least as they all need bigger sizes and I am realising they all have way to much, a lot of which isn't too worn.

I have about 8 bin bags to sort into keep for hand me downs, some I would normally sell or donate and some scruffy things I give to our disability play scheme.

Any motivating ideas of how to get rid and sort out in lockdown?

I sold one bundle on Ebay and have given lots to a community clothing bank so far but feel like it's a loosing battle

Also thoughts on ideal numbers of clothing items kids need? They seem to have at least 20 of everything which is clearly too much x 4 kids

We cut it down to 7 items of each clothing per child, which is still far too many, but it’s a start (apart from underwear, we have way more than 7 per kids) I think I’m going to try and make up 7 whole outfits each instead. I’ve also discovered the joy of play suits/jumpsuits for the DDs, so we need even less separates.

My daughter has far too much as is coming up to needing the next size up anyway so I'll need to go through them in the next week or two. The few bits that if already bought in the next size up before lockdown will probably do her for the summer.

I like the idea of 7 outfits, especially if they were things that could be adapted for colder weather. I imagine this will be easier with a girl as dresses and shorts can be teamed with tights when it gets colder.

What will you do if you go on holiday? Will you have enough for, say, a week away without having to wash anything? If we have a holiday without laundry facilities, I like to know that I don’t have to wash anything as I am not a fan of hand washing when I’m on holiday.
