Can I use automatic washing liquid for hand washing?

The washing machine is dead. DS2 is currently doing an engineering apprenticeship and reckons he can fix it. You Tube has been consulted and parts have been ordered. Wish us all luck but at least he has a project!

Meanwhile, to keep me in clean knickers, is there a reason not to use automatic washing liquid to do a bit of handwashing? It's not something that ever usually happens in this house so it's that or washing up liquid.

I would but only with gloves.

Definitely wear gloves.

I didn't have a washer as a student and agitated everything with a wooden spoon.

Yes will be absolutely fine, in fact there should be instructions on the pack for how much to use for handwashing. It's the other way round that you can't (using handwash detergent in a machine).

Good luck on getting your washing machine fixed.
