Damp smelling carpet

Hi,

Recently cleaned living room carpet with a Vax washer. Fine for a few days now obvious smell of damp, almost like smelly feet.

Anyone experienced this before. have tried shake and vac but just comes back. will it go on its own?

If it didn't smell before, I would assume it didn't dry quickly enough/ the cleaning fluid wasn't fresh/ the machine isn't extracting well.

I would redo it, as bicarb probably won't help now if the whole carpet smells deep within the fibres.

Make sure the machine sucks up as much moisture as possible, then ensure it dries faster with lots of ventilation.
