Yucky black mould in washing machine drawer - Any tips how to stop it?!

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any tips on how to stop black mould developing in the washing machine drawer?
I always take the drawer out now between uses to let at all dry properly but it still appears after a while just as badly as before. I regularly clean it all but it comes back each time.
Black mould also appears on the rubber seal even though I dry this each time. It’s sooooo annoying! (I also leave the washing machine door wide open).

put the powder directly into drum.

So you use liquid or powder? I find powder keeps everything cleaner as it contains bleaches

I take mine out and run it through the dishwasher every so and often.

Thanks for the replies.
I use powder mainly but for colours I use the liquid pods in the drum.

You need to clean your washing machine regularly . Take it out and clean the pipes ( or get a plumber to do it ) . And run a 90 wash with some specific cleaning solution ( can buy in supermarkets )

I never put anything in the drawer. I put powder into the drum and don't use fabric softener.

I just wash mine once a week and it doesn't get the chance to build up

I stopped using fabric conditioner and don't get any black mould now. Clothes still smell lovely without conditioner and it saves money too.

I think it’s to do with the washing capsules. Every few weeks I wipe all round the rubber seal with a cloth. Give it a really good do and then put the washer on at least a 60 deg wash empty. The drawer I take out once a month and wash in hot soapy water.
