Skirt Shrunk showing underskirt!

Hi all,

Tried searching for an answer as to why my skirt has shrunk and what I can do. Its a black satin skater skirt from & Other Stores (attached) with a little black underskirt/layer underneath. Before I first washed it the underskirt was hidden but now its visible. It’s as if the top layer has got shorter. I washed at 30 as per the instructions. It says iron when damp? Which I didn’t do. Would this cause it. Not the worst thing but just annoying as I don’t know what caused it

Try making it damp with water spray and ironing it.

What is the fabric made of?

I have had this with a couple of skirts or dresses over the years. My solution was just to chop an inch off the underskirt. Literally. Just went around with a pair of scissors. Never hemmed it or anything. Seems to have done the job and I don't think anyone else noticed

It was annoying me too much so I went to the effort of washing it yesterday and then then ironing when it was fairly damp seems to have done the trick! Thanks all
