please if anyone has any ideas. DS1 obviously woke last night got out of bed then did a wee on his beanbag. I didn't notice until this evening when putting DC to bed. The smell upstairs was awful. He also very helpfully put the beanbag on his made bed as well. so a nice stinky wet patch there too. So i have just spent 10 mins trying to push said beanbag into the machine. Its not having it. What next? help. I've just got a few more chores to do then will be back.

Sorry if this is really obvious but does it not have a removable cover. Sometimes the zips are very well hidden.

Does the bean bag have a zip or other opening? You can usually open them up and remove the beans - the cover will then go in the washing machine. Don't try and wash the whole thing - the beans are often made of polystyrene, and will just dissolve in the machine.

If not, white vinegar is good - sloosh it on, scrub it in, leave it out in the sun to dry. You can use that on the mattress too - again, leave it in the sun to dry (just keep your fingers crossed for a sunny day!)

yes but the wee has gone right through and i'm thinking the filling will need a wash too. especially as it's been sitting around in a warm room ALL day.

No, don't use white wine vinegar - it has to be plain old white vinegar.

If the filling is polystyrene, it might be easier to replace the balls. If they're plastic then I would put them into a net bag and wash them in the bath.

lol at you stuffing beanbag in machine!!!!

buy a new one of the cover doesn't come off

mytwopenceworth · 12/09/2007 19:31

I know this sort of advice can get you shot these days, but I would just throw the balls out! A billion little polyst-thingie balls, soaked in wee.

Bugger that.

£10 off ebay gets you a bagfull.

Thanks for the advice however £10 is £10 and a last resort. I'll try soaking it in vinegar or that febie stuff and sticking it outside overnight.
