How to get the damp/mould smell out

Had a leak while away and the carpet in my bedroom and walk in wardrobe (sounds grand - it's a cupboard with IKEA pax wardrobes in) got sodden. Most of the water has gone and the carpet feels dry but it PONGS. I have taken everything off the floors except the wardrobes as they can't be removed. Baking soda? Essential oils?! Help!

I think you may have to replace the carpet. Sorry OP.

Some ideas here. Good luck!

Thanks knitted. I've ordered some white vinegar to spray and put baking soda on overnight before vacuuming. Dehumidifier currently in there! Will try these first before looking at replacing the carpet.

Still stinks. Think I'm going to have to rip out the cupboards and replace the carpet. Absolutely gutted.
