Recommendations for a new vacuum cleaner

Boring thread alert sorry.

Our cordless Dyson (which I’ve hated for a long time btw) has finally died so I need to order a new one.

I’m looking for recommendations. I like cordless as long as it has a decent battery life but it’s not a deal breaker if an upright is a better option. Needs to be quite slim though as we have limited storage space.
Not too pricey but willing to look at more expensive if worth it.

Preferably available on Amazon as I have some vouchers.

Thank you!

Shark Lift Away

Geppili · 26/03/2020 20:52

Sebo? Quite slim.

ChateauMyself · 26/03/2020 20:55

Anything, so long as someone else is pushing it :-)

RaininSummer · 26/03/2020 21:14

Another vote for the Shark liftaway. Love mine. Have banished the Dyson.

Purplecatshopaholic · 26/03/2020 21:16

Yup Shark Lift Away, love mine

Eminybob · 27/03/2020 06:35

Thank you.
I ended up needing to make a decision before I got any replies, so I did go for a shark, not the lift away though.
I got one of the stick ones with anti hair wrap (as that is what killed the Dyson I think)

So hopefully it’s ok, it’s on order from JL. Something to look forward to when it arrives!

Sorry I know you've just bought new hoover, but just wanted to bleat that's i fucking hated my Dyson (cordless) and have gone back to Henry.

My carpets (which I thought needed cleaning) are now fully hoovered and clean!

I don't even swear at Henry now when he falls over just because!

Life is sad sometimes 🙄

oohnicevase · 27/03/2020 14:28

Shark !

Goldwispa · 27/03/2020 22:15

Miele or sebo

GuyFawkesDay · 27/03/2020 22:16

Miele

Peanut55 · 27/03/2020 22:20

I LOVE my Sebo.

Best hoover I have ever used.

I have a Miele and love it BUT I have just changed to lots of dark flooring and need to vacuum daiky as it shows everything. I bought the Vax blade 4 and love it. It’s light, has brilliant suction and was half the price of a comparable dyson. Has a decent battery life too.

Goldwispa · 28/03/2020 07:10

I have tried a shark lift away and thought it was heavy

Chattercino · 28/03/2020 07:11

Shark

HelgaHere1 · 28/03/2020 07:14

Do sebo do a cordless - I have a corded sebo upright and it is heavy and unwieldy imv.
I like my Gtech carpet sweeper type.

Paddingtonthebear · 28/03/2020 07:16

I don’t buy cordless vacuums but I’ve had a Shark, Dyson, AEG, Bosch and a Miele and the best vacuum I’ve had is a Sebo X7.

Eminybob · 28/03/2020 07:16

We had the Dyson v6 I think it is and it’s absolute garbage. At the time we bought it cordless stick vacuums were a relatively new concept. I with I’d gone for the shark then.
I’ve had shipping notification from JL - it’s on it’s way!!!

Friends son works for Currys and says Shark vacuums are the most returned brand out of any product they sell.

I didn’t like the stick Shark we had a few years ago, it only lasted a year. I almost bought the Liftaway this year but all of the flimsy clicky parts put me off. Their handheld mini vac looks quite good though.

chocolatespiders · 28/03/2020 07:24

I have a sebo which is 10 years old and used every day.
I am desperate for it to die so I can get a shark as I hear such good things about them but I haven't found a sebo v shark comparison. .
Let us know what your new shark is like.

couchlover · 28/03/2020 07:51

We have a henry and my husband hates it! He rarely uses it but promised if we get a new hoover he will hoover more.

He wants an up right but NOT cordless. Needs to be good on stars as we have two lots plus one pet and mix of carpet and laminate floors - what model do people recommend? I was looking at dyson small ball but happy to consider any.

Cherryade8 · 29/03/2020 16:44

I hated my Dyson cordless too. It had no guts. Got a corded one now, much better.
